They mention Concealed-carry, but it sounds like he was on his own property. Concealed-carry holder fatally shoots would-be robber in Burnside - Chicago Sun-Times
Burnside is one of the 77 neighborhoods in Chicago, located on the South Side.
Expecting reporters to understand gun laws is like expecting them to understand nuclear physics. They're reporters, not lawyers (or scientists).
About 12:20 p.m., the man was in an open garage in the 500 block of East 89th Street when a vehicle pulled up in the alley and an armed male exited and demanded his belongings, Chicago police said.
The man then shot at the would-be robber, fatally striking him in the head and chest, police said.
Gun owners have to understand the law, but not reporters. (Do they understand anything?) It may be that this guy was not on his own property, but they never say.
They are probably having fits that he didn't have to follow one of Mayor Groot's 20 page procedures before he defended himself.
But even in the People's Republic of Chicago, self-defense is a human-right. And in this case it seems that the Powers-that-be are going to recognize it as a legal right. (Hat tip to HeyJackass!)
