It never works out. Northeast Philly homeowner shot man who broke into house in search of his ex-girlfriend, police say | PhillyVoice
He went to a home to "confront" is ex-girlfriend, because he apparently didn't understand the "ex-" part of that equation.
The man kicked at the wooden door repeatedly and shouted for several minutes before the door broke from its hinges, police said
The homeowner shot and killed the man after he broke down the door to the home.
He apparently couldn't let it go. He could have gone out with friends for a drink. He could have stayed home and watched an old movie. Instead he decided to kick in the door to a home where he wasn't invited. Turns out that was a bad idea.
The reporter makes note of the fact that he had a license to carry; I don't think you need that in your own home, not even in Pennsylvania. And he also notes that the guy who got shot was not armed, as if that should make a difference.
