So after two and a half years, I was finally convinced to see Captain Marvel. It helps that the sequel has been announced, I guess. And it also helps that I didn't have to pay anything to see it. (Free is good, especially if it means I don't have to feed the Hollywood Beast.)
Anyway, it was fun. Not the best movie in the MCU. Not the worst. But I am a sucker for a story with a strong female character, and this one had at least two. Three if you count Lieutenant Trouble. I am glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater.
If you haven't seen it, you might enjoy it. A couple of the fight scenes are good. There isn't anything ground breaking. Setting the whole thing in the 1980s was a bit of a waste as far as I can tell. I'm not sure why they thought it was important.
Here is the trailer for Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel
It was OK. Worth one watch. Not something worth buying on Bluray
ReplyDeleteI gave up having expectations for the MCU a long way back. They didn't completely destroy it they way they did with Star Wars, but it has been done to death.
DeleteAnd I love not paying money to Hollywood. Most (all?) of the MCU is available at my local library as DVDs. They aren't available right away, but who cares?
As for Star Wars, I refer you to Larry Correia: My Russian Bot Review of The Last Jedi.
