Vaccine mandates and science. Having SARS-CoV-2 once confers much greater immunity than a vaccine—but vaccination remains vital
"What was the study?" you ask.
The study, conducted in one of the most highly COVID-19–vaccinated countries in the world, examined medical records of tens of thousands of Israelis, charting their infections, symptoms, and hospitalizations between 1 June and 14 August, when the Delta variant predominated in Israel. It’s the largest real-world observational study so far to compare natural and vaccine-induced immunity to SARS-CoV-2, according to its leaders.
And the outcome?
The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection offers considerably more of a shield against the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to a large Israeli study that some scientists wish came with a “Don’t try this at home” label.
By which they mean you shouldn't try to get infected. But for those of us who have a natural immunity - gotten the hard way - what is the point of the vaccine? Control, that's the point.
Get the vaccine or else. You will lose your job. You will not be allowed to go anywhere like a restaurant. Obey. (Hat tip to Easy Money.)
From day 1, I advocated to protect the vulnerable mostly elderly, but for the rest of us... "Get it and spread it." I was viewed as some kind of idiot.
ReplyDeleteI believe I had it in early March 2020, but never tested. When I go to my doctor in November, I will be requesting an anti-body test, that I will pay out of pocket for if necessary.
This is really one of those cases where anybody in the least bit familiar with how these systems work should be able to see that natural immunity is going to be better than these vaccines. Having them pounding the table for more vaccinations is a perfect example of the fallibility of experts.
ReplyDeleteThe vaccines create immunity to two spike proteins. That's all. If the virus mutates, and if there's one thing you can count on coronaviruses to do it's to mutate, those new viruses will go right past the defenses. Presto: a new, dominant variant and the vaccinated people get that variant.
Meanwhile, the people who actually got infected with Covid-19 have immunity to more of the proteins the virus displays (I read somewhere there are 52 proteins), so they're more likely to be able to attack the new variants as well.
Both of those are exactly what we're seeing.
Glypto Dropem had it exactly right, just like Ron DeSantis did. Protect the vulnerable, and at some point the rest of us all get it. There is no such thing as driving it down to Covid zero. Viruses are part of the environment.
