The Gun-hating community loves to go on about how if you own a gun, you are more likely to shoot someone you know than a complete stranger. That's because people you know, are more likely to be a threat. Homeowner kills alleged intruder in Montgomery County, police say
Police say the homeowner called for help, believing an intruder was trying to break into his home. When the intruder made it inside, the homeowner allegedly shot and killed the suspected intruder. No charges have been filed against the homeowner at this time.
This was not a perfect stranger trying to break in. This was someone known to the homeowner. They haven't given any more details.
People you know are not just your friends. "People you know" includes your violent ex-boyfriend, the feuding neighbor, the stalker you picked up at your last job, etc. They are all more likely to pose a threat than a complete stranger.
Somehow all of that is lost in the statistics. At least for the gun-controllers.
In the meantime, it looks like self-defense is legal in Maryland. And it is a human-right.
