And not just the Afghanistan disaster. Jake Sullivan Presides Over Yet Another Foreign Policy Disaster
The Forrest Gump of American decline?
He's supposed to be so smart - Democrat advisor to Presidents - which begs the question, "Is he sabotaging our foreign policy, or is he really clueless?"
Sullivan's extensive experience as an architect of American failure in Syria, Libya, Ukraine, Iran, and Myanmar, plus the fact that White House press secretary Jen Psaki is mysteriously out of the office, made him a natural choice to defend the Biden administration's handling of the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.
Let's look at a couple of those issues.
Syria: When Russian-backed dictator Assad Bashar al-Assad was "warned" by the US (under then Secretary of State Hillary) that chemical weapons were a "Red Line" he should not cross. He crossed it many times and not much happened. (See "Or Else" on that score.)
Ukraine: Obama and Hillary didn't enfore the "Red Line" in Syria, so Putin decided the Crimea should be a part of Russia. Again. Do I need to rehash how that has turned out? Do we expect the rest of Ukraine to fall? That I don't know.
Sullivan was involved with the Nuclear Deal with Iran, the 2011 intervention in Lybia, Myanmar, and probably more.
None of these policy failures will hurt Sullivan's glowing reputation among members of the Liberal Élite. After all, his credentials are impeccable: Yale University (Phi Beta Kappa), Rhodes scholar, Yale Law School, Brookings Institution. He was a debate team champion and president of the student council in high school, where he was voted "most likely to succeed."
I'm sure he's Woke AF.
