First the current state of Hurricane Ida. (Downloaded from WeatherNerds.org)
It is begining to look like an artist's conception of a hurricane.
At 2 PM, Eastern Daylight Time, Hurricane Ida was a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of about 100 miles per hour, or 155 kilometers per hour. It is strenghening.
The satellite loop captured as a GIF above, runs through 3:15 PM Eastern. As I have said before, I am not a meterologist, but to me it looks like the eyewall is becoming very well defined. And the pressure has been dropping. At 2PM the NHC listed the pressure at 976 millibars.
This is "Respect the Wind" by Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen from the soundtrack to the motion picture Twister.
