I enjoy the schadenfreude of the Left as much as anyone, but the truth is Nickelodeon has been on its way out for ten years or more. The decline didn't start in 2017 or whatever date people are choosing for the "Get Woke, Go Broke" insults. Number of viewers of Nickelodeon in the United States from 2010/11 to 2017/18
Much has been written under the heading of "Get Woke; Go Broke" around Nickelodeon's ratings "implosion" from 1.3 million viewers in 2017, to 300,000 viewers today. Or whatever the latest number is. People have been laying the blame at the feet of the Woke turn they made in 2016 or 2017, which may be satisfying, but it misses something important.
The ratings of Nickelodeon have been evaporating from more than 10 years.
Yes, ratings rebounded, slightly, in the 2015/2016 season. Very slightly. If that was a stock price being charted, that would be called a "dead cat bounce."
When I look at this chart, it is hard for me to say, "All of Nickelodeon's problems are caused by a decision they made in 2017!" I just don't see it.
I enjoy schadenfreude of the Left as much as anyone, but Nickelodeon has been on its way out for ten years.
