A mass shooting on the South Side of Chicago will not be national news, because they can't highlight the explosion of crime in Chicago. 10 people shot, 1 fatally, in Chicago mass shooting early Saturday morning, police say - Chicago Tribune
Chatham is one of the 77 neighborhoods in Chicago.
The mass shooting in Chatham took place shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, as a group of people was on the sidewalk in the 7500 block of South Prairie Avenue when two gunmen approached and opened fire.
A 29-year-old woman suffered wounds to the abdomen and left knee, and was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Nine others were shot and taken to area hospitals:
This wasn't the only violence in Chicago. The Tribune, in the article linked above, lists the following stats - through 6:15 PM Saturday...
24 shot, 3 fatally, in Chicago weekend violence, including 10 people injured in single mass shooting in Chatham neighborhood.
The best stats for Chicago come from HeyJackass! As of 9:00 PM Sunday they listed 4 killed, and 36 wounded. That number will likely change, as HeyJackass! counts the weekend as being through 6 AM on Monday.
UPDATE: The Other McCain has info on 2 other mass-shootings (plus this one) that also will not get national media attention. ‘Perpetuating Stereotypes’ Again: Three More Mass Shooting This Weekend.
Police haven’t issued descriptions of the suspects in any of these mass shootings, but at risk of “perpetuating stereotypes,” I’m going to take a wild guess and say none of the shooters were Trump voters.
