In April I mentioned that Marko Hietala, the bass player and singer for Nightwish, announced that he will retire from singing and public life. (He has made a few commitments that he is going to fulfill, before he bows out.) I also mentioned that he had made a number of guest appearances on other albums. Here is one of the songs that came from those collaborations.
This is "Face Your Demons (Alternative Version)" featuring Marko Hietala. It is by the band After Forever, which is sadly no more. This version of the song was on the compilation album Remagine that came out in 2005.
After Forever never really caught fire. It is too bad, given that I think they had some good songs. Among others it included Floor Jansen (currently lead singer for Nightwish) and Mark Jansen, (founder and guitarist/vocalist for Epica). They are two of my favorite Metal performers. There is no relation between Mark Jansen and Floor Jansen. (That family name being the Dutch equivalent of Johnson; it is not uncommon.)
