File this under "Chicago's Recipe for More Crime." No cops: Woman carjacked in West Loop waits over an hour for police response | CWB Chicago
Carjackers stole her vehicle Saturday Morning as she drove to work. Then she waited for an hour for cops to arrive, so she walked to work, and waited there. There were no officers available in her district.
According to police dispatch records, the Near West (12th) Police District did not have any officers available to handle calls at the time of the incident. A unit was finally assigned to handle the case at 6:49 a.m.
CWBChicago reported last week that the 12th District has lost more than 16% of its manpower since April as CPD brass move district patrol officers to other units.
The CPD Superintendent, David Brown, created a bunch of "citywide teams," and the powers-that-be have moved a lot of manpower to the Loop to deter looting. And a bunch of manpower to Mayor Groot's block to deter protesting. (That would be Mayor Lori Lightfoot, not-so-affectionately known as Groot to Second City Cop.)
The results have not been good. Car jacking is up 125% over last year, and as for murders, as I write this, the total according to HeyJackass! stands at 739.
