On Wednesday, November 6, the day after Election Day, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter was full of Democrats wondering about the “missing” votes — Kamala Harris’s vote totals were remarkably lower than the 81 million that Joe Biden supposedly got in 2020. This provoked all kinds of paranoid conspiracy theory comments among liberals, none of whom seemed to consider the obvious alternative: Maybe Joe really didn’t get 81 million votes. Maybe “ballot harvesting” and other Democrat shenanigans in 2020 really did amount to a stolen election. But only right-wing extremists could think such a thing.

As any student of history knows, the loss of individual freedom concomitant with government repression features prominently in the inception and development of totalitarian states. These features reoccur: First is the centralization and empowerment of a national police force with a vast network of surveillance and informants to spy on the suspected population. Second is the issuing of national identification cards to keep tabs on the whereabouts of all citizens. Third is control of education, which is necessary for the indoctrination of the young and the neutralization of moral instruction, which is normally inculcated by the family and churches.

Thus, gun control along with loss of liberty and increasing repression necessarily and prominently features in the unfolding, authoritarian designs of a burgeoning police state. For the total empowerment of national police forces—which the American Founders called “standing armies,” operating with vast surveillance capabilities and networks of informants to spy on the population (not foreign enemies)—draconian gun control measures become a necessity.
The Chicago Police Department reported having arrested more than 30 members of the dangerous Tren de Aragua Venezuelan street gang, only to find the courts releasing many of them right back out onto the streets.
Dozens of these gang members have been arrested over the last two years for an array of offenses, including drug dealing, human trafficking, gun charges, theft, and other charges, the New York Post reported.
However, thanks to the recent state-wide implementation of the SAFE-T Act, which eliminated cash bail in most cases, many of these gang members were released right after being arrested.
"Diversity is our strength" goes the story, but we have something like fifty or eighty major gangs with a few hundred subsets and splinters, so we really don't need diversity amongst the ne'er-do-wells.
A knife-wielding assailant killed two men and a woman during an hourslong, seemingly "unprovoked" stabbing spree through the streets of New York City on Monday, authorities said.
The two slain men — attacked near 444 W. 19th St. at 8:22 a.m. ET and then by 500 E. 30th St. at 10:27 a.m. — were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, officials said.
Then a woman was stabbed in the shadow of the United Nations, near East 42nd Street and First Avenue, at 10:55 a.m., leaving her in critical condition. A New York City police spokesperson said Monday night that the woman died.

If anyone remembers the old Get Smart TV show, the enemy organization was KAOS, the international organization of evil. They were, "Bent on destroying the world for their own gain." It sounded funny in the late 1960s and early '70s. Today it doesn't sound that funny.
Why escalate the war right before Biden leaves office? Is this an entire "screw you" to the whole world?
I think I will open that bottle of Scotch I've been saving and toast with friends this weekend.
I have been studiously ignoring all things Whoopi Goldberg. As one person in the video asks, didn't she promise to move out of the country if Trump won the election? I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part.
Whoopi Goldberg wanted to order a cake from a bakery on Staten Island in NYC. The bakery in question had their furnace/boiler go out, so they were not taking ANY orders. As a result they told Ms. Goldberg that they could not take her order. What Whoopi heard was that they turned her down based on race, gender, and politics. She then went on the view said as much.
So she jumped straight to HATE!!!! Could this be that she is projecting her own character onto Holtermann’s Bakery? (Or if she owned a business, and a conservative showed up for service, what would she do?)
Now the bakery didn't tell her about the boiler, but then why would they? They just said that they couldn't take her order at that time. But to right leap to "Racist, Mysoginist, Conservative" for a business in New York City is beyond insane.
To go on national television and accuse this business is to be (in my First Amendment protected opinion) defamatory. And I hope they sue her, and her show The View, until neither one will ever consider spouting such insane hatred again. A couple of hundred million each should take care of that. (It was good enough for Alex Jones, after all.)
And just to remind everyone, The View is on ABC, which is owned by Disney. A few hundred million dollars for defamation? Yeah, throw another log on that fire, please. Disney has destroyed every movie franchise they have gotten their hands on, including the stuff they inherited from Walt. I can't think of anything else from my youth that they could destroy, but I'm not willing to take that bet. As far as I'm concerned, it can't burn to the ground fast enough.
Instead of leaning into her logic, she leaned into her delusion. In her own view of reality, that constantly sets her in the place of being a victim, despite the fact that she is literally an elite, she is Whoopi Goldberg. And it seems like the bakery might be revving up for a little bit of a legal battle with Whoopi Goldberg.
Olga Vitalievna Yakovleva (Ольга Витальевна Яковлева), better known by her stage-name Origa, was born in the old Soviet Union, in Novosibirsk Oblast, an area of southwestern Siberia.
She made a name for herself working mostly in Japan, so a lot of songs are Japanese. Not too surprising that a lot of her songs are in Russian. English does turn up occasionally, but so does Latin.
Sadly she died of lung cancer at the age of 44 in 2015. I think she had a haunting voice, and I quite like her work. Most of it anyway.

In 2023 the Chicago budget was about $17 billion, up from some $11 billion in 2019. From 2019 to 2024, the Chicago Public Schools added almost 7,000 employees while CPS enrollment declined by more than 30,000 students. The Covid boom in federal money was meant as temporary relief but has become entrenched in higher spending benchmarks.
At the time of writing this post, I am sitting on the upper deck in the lounge, watching barges go through a lock on the Main River. (No Beans it’s not the main river in Germany rather it is the Main River, pronounced “Mine” River.) According to our cruise director, we’ll go through 63 locks on this trip. But, it’s kinda fun to watch and figure out how the whole system works.
A recent article posted by an antigun group launched an attack on a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children. Why? Because the charity hosted a fundraising event in which firearms were raffle prizes. They fail in their attempt to draw a nexus between charitable sportsmen’s fundraising and the criminal misuse of firearms, but they succeed in exposing the bias against lawful gun ownership.
And if you imply that they are anything like the crew who started WWII, they will persecute (or prosecute) you for that. From CJ Hopkins at The Consent Factory. Fear and Loathing in New Normal Germany
The first rule of New Normal Germany is, you do not compare New Normal Germany to Nazi Germany. If you do that, New Normal Germany will punish you. It will sic the Federal Criminal Police on you. It will report you to its domestic Intelligence agency. It will ban your books. It will censor your Tweets. It will prosecute you on fabricated “hate-crime” charges.
I know this, because that’s what happened to me. I broke the first rule of New Normal Germany. I compared New Normal Germany to Nazi Germany. I did it with the cover artwork of my book.
He had a swastika on the cover of his book. (He was comparing the current regime to the Third Reich.) That is a crime. Except when it isn't a crime.

A 19-year-old man is charged with committing eight armed robberies within an hour while he was on electronic monitoring for six other felonies, including four more robberies.
This time the judge kept him in jail pending trial. I expect another judge will release him on electronic monitoring, adding the words, "Or else."
Doesn't committing a crime while on parole constitute a violation of parole? I guess he's still innocent until proved guilty.
State records show Pope was paroled on December 8, 2023, after serving half of a three-year sentence involving stolen vehicle allegations.
In late August, Chicago police arrested him on a felony narcotics charge, saying they caught him with seven baggies of suspected heroin in a narcotics “hotspot” on the West Side. But the state did not revoke his parole and he was released to await trial.
A man has been given an 18-year sentence for robbing seven North Side businesses last year while he was on parole for an 18-year sentence he received for six robberies in 2014.
Williamomo Peray, 45, will be eligible for parole again in June 2032, after serving half of his new sentence.
Gee, I wonder how he will earn a living after he is released.
If you click thru that 3rd link, and read to the bottom, you see he has been arrested, tried, convicted, and paroled several (many?) times. Each time he was paroled, he committed more crimes for which he was arrested. Rinse. Repeat.
For those of you who haven't read Kafka, his book The Trial is about a defendant who is never told the nature of the crime for which he is charged.
Alison Pearson is a journalist for The Telegraph, a London paper. Before it disappeared completely behind a paywall many years ago, it was one of my principle sources of news. It seemed less biased than anything media in the US about what was happening in the US, and it had excellent coverage of what was happening in the UK and Europe.
She recounts the day that two police officers arrived early on a Sunday morning to tell her she was under investigation.
In an article for The Telegraph, she said she was told by one officer that “I was accused of a non-crime hate incident. It was to do with something I had posted on X a year ago. A YEAR ago? Yes. Stirring up racial hatred apparently.”
When Pearson asked what she had allegedly said in the tweet, the officer said he was not allowed to disclose it.

Haken is a band I stumbled across a few years ago. They are listed in most places as Prog (Progressive Heavy Metal). A lot of their work reminds me of Progressive Rock from the 1970s.
Visions is a concept album, and this song is the closing of the story.
It is a concept album like its predecessor, telling the story of "a young boy who sees his own death in his dreams and believes it's going to happen and spends the rest of his life trying to avoid it." The long closing track "Visions" is the end of the story but it makes it come full circle to the beginning. The track was written by Ross based on a premonition of his own death and it was the first song to be written, with the album growing around it.
This is "Visions" by Haken. It is the title song to their 2011 album. For some reason they had the need to remaster the album in 2017. This is the remastered version. The song is 22 minutes long, so plan accordingly.
About as rare as a Chicago sports team having a winning season, Thursday posted a no-hitter with zero reported people shot and/or killed – only the 6th known rarity since 2015. Now back to the shooting and killing…
The shooting occurred while Daye was working as a security guard at an auto repair shop. According to defense arguments, three men entered the shop and shot one of Daye’s co-workers. Daye responded by opening fire, ultimately killing the intruders.
In Oklahoma the cops would take this guy out for a beer. In Florida the sheriff of the county would have a press conference and say it is a wonderful thing that people can defend themselves, and that criminals should go elsewhere. In Maryland they put him on trial for murder.
The jury delivered a not guilty verdict.
While this verdict was handed down at the end of last month, it slipped thru my news filters until it was highlighted by Keep And Bear Arms.
Or at least a traditional part of it in that city.
What happens when you let violent mobs run wild? The "protesters" have basically run all openly Jewish people out of Melbourne. So now they are turning their attention to Christians.
What exactly was expected? That they would never target anyone aside from the Jews? You need to study a bit of world history.
Did you really think that that stop with the Zionists? History has a funny way of repeating itself, over and over. First they start with the Saturday people and then the Sunday people. Every Single. Time
Disclaimer. We don't actually know the total budget of the Disney live-action remake of Snow White is. Through the end of the fiscal year in the UK for 2023 it was well in excess of $265 million. There were more reshoots in 2024, and that will require computer graphics work. Then there is a score, editing, translating into multiple languages, and marketing. Marketing for a movie like this will typically be at least $100 million, probably more like $150 million, and could be more. But if we assume that marketing will be about $100 million, we can see that the total cost of the movie will be $350 million dollars. And I guess I should note that the studios, in this case Disney, get roughly half of the revenue stream known as the box office receipts. So to break even, Snow White will need to make $800 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
"Willis 'Ching' Lee he is one of the most important people in Naval Warfare history, and he gets nowhere near the credit that he deserves."
I love history. Not the way it was taught in grade school and high school. In college I studied history, not mere memorization of dates of battles. History is about how people made a difference. The lesson being that YOU can make a difference. The problem is that the powers-that-be don't want people who can think, and who believe that they can make a difference. They want obedient drones to work in their factories, and vote the way they're told to vote, and consume product.
Willis "Ching" Lee made a difference. He was an expert marksman, despite being near sighted. He had to fight his way to becoming captain of a battleship. And when he did, he realized that the information they had on targeting, was not correct. He set about to treat 16 inch guns like he treated long distance rifle shooting. And he had to fight the navy over that. But it paid dividends. The USS Washington, under command of Ching Lee, was the last battleship to sink an enemy battleship in WWII.

A man entered a woman's property, back in September, and was acting "eccentric." When he charged her, and gained entry to the home, she shot and killed him.
"After carefully reviewing the circumstances of this shooting, it is clear that this woman's use of deadly force was justified," [Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric] Zahnd said in a statement. "It is fortunate she was able to defend herself and her child, and they were not hurt in this terrifying incident."
Dearborn, Missouri is about 35 miles north of Kansas City.
After the shooting, the homeowner grabbed her 4-year-old child, who was in another room, and ran to a neighbor's house.
Police found Hinderliter's body in the woman's home. Toxicology reports showed THC in his system, and the autopsy showed his death was due to multiple gunshot wounds.
So drugs are hazardous to your health. They cause you to do stupid stuff that will get you killed. Click thru for the list of stuff he did.
