This turned up in my regular news searches the past week. These Are America’s Best-Selling Semi-Automatic Rifles
An interesting list, though I would have grouped the data in a different way.
America's gun market is booming, and the most popular firearms tell us a lot about what's going on in the nation. Certain gun companies are consistently topping the sales charts. Such data provides useful information for investing in defense stocks. The types of guns people buy may provide insights into contemporary events. A sudden rise in popularity for a particular rifle, for example, can sometimes reflect growing tensions at home and overseas. In addition, America's gun industry plays a big role in politics. The most popular rifles can illustrate the power of manufacturing companies and how they influence our culture and decision-making.
The list includes two varieties of AR-15, one from Colt and one from Springfield. One version of an AK is on the list, from Zastava. I wonder what this list would look like if they put all AR-15s in 1 bucket, and all AK variants in another. IWI's Tavor and the FNH SCAR Series are both on the list. I won't spoil what is the Number One selling rifle. It isn't too surprising. (I owned one when I was much younger.)
