Crime in the NYC Subway System Versus Economics

Cash Jordan produces some interesting videos that document the downfall of New York City. Most of the videos that I'm interested in cover the rampant crime in the city, and the impact it has on everyday citizens.

A couple of facts from the video:

  • NYC is home to $4.4 billion shoplifting industry
  • There are 6 felonies per day in the subway
  • While ridership is up (25% over last year) people are not spending money in the stores.

This is Cash Jordan's video Every NYC Subway Store is Closing… Over Crime. It isn't just crime alone, but the point Cash Jordan is making is that the people in charge ignore the crime, because it is the result of policies that promote crime, and/or protect criminals from prosecution.

The city isn't trying to stop the crime to save the businesses in the subway, they are spending money to turn the empty storefronts into "non-commercial" art galleries.

Wow. So this what Progressive solutions to Progressive problems look like. Instead of cracking down on the crime that's closing the businesses, they're spending more money to make those closed, empty businesses, that will never reopen, look a little bit better, which I guess is a step in the right direction, but it's not making a dent in the overall problem we've got down here.

Speaking of which, there is so much turnstile jumping down here I think you could find the entire US hurdles Olympic team down here.
