One of the things I do is listen to 93xrt's Saturday Morning Flashback while I drink my coffee. They were flashing back to 1985 in November. Even when I don't like most the music from the 1980s, I remember most of it. (I was living in Chicago through most of the 1980s) WXRT manages to screen out most of the drek from that era, and I do like this song.
This song is "Close to Me" by The Cure from their 1985 album The Head on the Door.
Great song, great band, GREAT choice!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's the correct term, but I describe songs like this "minimalism" music. Minimal instruments, simple but catchy lyrics, ends when you think it would go on a bit more.
The Cure went through a couple of phases. This album is solidly Post Punk/New Wave
