Friday Links - The Ides of March Edition

The Other McCain is up first with Academia’s DEI ‘Oppression’ Racket and the Demonization of Jews on Campus

The Left believes that inequality is synonymous with injustice. Insofar as you have a nickel’s more net worth than your neighbor, this disparity proves that you are oppressing him. You may laugh at this as silly hyperbole, but it is the essence of the belief system that justifies DEI programs at universities, and which also justifies people claiming that Israel is guilty of “genocide” in Gaza.

Meep at Stump - DST Kills: More Tales of the Killer Time-Changer

In all of these, MVA deaths were worse in a statistically significant way for the week after the DST switch — 6% higher than usual, and worst in the morning, 9% higher than expected. That’s for the whole period.

Impro Guns - .22 zip gun (Australia)

“Tasmania Police have seized 36 firearms, $45,000 in cash and ...“

Vlad Tepes - Mao era expat speaks to the transformation of Canada into a communist state especially in terms of law

“…because most people who were killed were identified a counter-revolutionaries”.

Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony - Daily News Stuff 13 March 2023: Chapa Chapa Edition

Speaking of Apple, the company will permit EU users to download apps directly from the developers' websites rather than using the App Store. (9to5Mac)

The developers will have to pay Apple for this privilege, of course.

Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog - Federal Judge Squashes NLRB’s Attempt To Destroy Gig Economy

Democrats hate the gig economy, since they can’t force independent contractors to join unions (and thus rake off their union dues). So Biden’s NLRB issued a “joint-employer standard” to force companies to treat gig employees and subcontractors as subject to union representation. Well, a federal judge in Texas squashed that rule.

Instapundit - GREAT MOMENTS IN OBITS: Legendary singer/songwriter, who faced widespread backlash for supporting Trump

I missed the obit headlines that read “Frank Sinatra, legendary singer and actor, who faced widespread backlash for supporting Reagan, dies at 82.”

Or heck, based on the rumors that later circulated around him, “John Lennon, legendary singer/songwriter, who faced widespread backlash for supporting Reagan, dead at 40.”

Again from The Other McCain - Haiti’s Zombie Apocalypse: Media Skeptical of Cannibalism Reports

How bad is the situation in Haiti? Three words: Worse than Baltimore.

Sure, Baltimore is a violence-plagued hellhole and no sane person would go near it, but as bad as things are in Baltimore, the city hasn’t yet been taken over by gangs of cannibals yet.
