Sam Cooke came up on Social Media a while back. In some ways I think I grew up listening to his music, at least a bit. I'm not sure why, it might have been a cousin, or an uncle. His music was definitely not my parents' taste in music. It could be that I'm actually more familiar with one of the various covers of this song. Simon and Garfunkel covered it in 1978, with James Taylor, and the was in the Top 40, so it would have been on the radio.
Sam Cooke was another artist who was gone too soon. He died in 1964 at the age of 33.
This is "(What A) Wonderful World" by Sam Cooke. It was released as a single in 1960 from the album The Wonderful World of Sam Cooke. It charted at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, though I didn't first become aware of it via the radio. (I'm older than dirt, but I'm not that old.) The song is often referred to as "(What A) Wonderful World" as we have with this video.
Maybe from the movie Animal House? I think that's where I first became aware of it...

Not sure. I would have to look at what year Animal House came out, though I think I knew of Sam Cooke earlier than that.
