RECOIL tells us How to Pepper Spray.
Amongst the cognoscenti, the popularity of a less-lethal option for EDC has been steadily increasing.. Whether you use one to add to the force continuum, or because more deadly weapons are illegal in your locale, you need to know the why’s and how’s behind them.
As they say, firearms are not legal everywhere. Post offices being the most common example. My local library branch is posted as "no guns allowed."
And then there is this consideration.
You can’t shoot every threat you run into — pulling or using a gun on a less-than-deadly-force threat can get you put in prison. The old saying “If all you have is a hammer, every problem gets treated like a nail” is in play here.
Anyway, read the whole thing.
The hat tip goes to Massady Ayoob and IMPORTANT POINTS ON PEPPER SPRAY.
Most of you who read this are “gun people.” If self-defense is one of your motivations, you don’t need me to tell you that your protection plan should include intermediate force tools. I suspect most of you already keep pepper spray handy.
And I bet you ALL know people who would never carry a gun, but are comfortable carrying pepper spray.
Thankfully, I live in a county in Florida where the Castle Doctrine is revered as a sacred right and gun owners are protected from leftist public officials by the Stand Your Ground Law. That being said, pepper spray is a great accoutrement for those places where guns aren't allowed.
