The Bud Light Saga Continues

Though the phrase "Silences dissent" is a bit disingenuous. Was it the most successful boycott in history? Bud Light sales plummet 26%, company SILENCES dissent

This may become the canonical example of "Get Woke, Go Broke," but I think the real message is that companies need to start listening to their customers, and not just insulting them.

A month after the InBev-owned Anheuser-Busch brand premiered its partnership with TikToker Dylan Mulvaney, attempts to stem the boycott bleeding have been unable to repair the damage. Speaking with the St. Louis Dispatch, beverage industry consultant Bump Williams outlined just how severe the reported 26 percent drop in sales for the week ending April 22 truly was.

The article goes on to talk about the relative market share of a couple of other brands, inlcuding other Anheuser-Busch brands. Of key interest is that Bud Light may lose its Number 1 position in the US market if this continues.

And the non-apology by the CEO/(former?) CIA operative isn't helping.

Well aware of the mistake, Bud Light had issued a non-apology statement, placed no less than two executives on leave, and attempted to cleanse the public’s palette after force-feeding leftist ideology with a dash of traditional Americana.

And AB-InBev really can't apologize without pissing off the DEI police. And so like Disney and Disney/Marvel and Disney/Lucasfilm they will drive the brand straight into the ground.

As for "silencing dissent," they have turned off comments on their Bud Light commercials that have been released. When Disney does that it is generally ignored by the media, because apparently the media loves Disney more than they love Anheuser-Busch.

I have to buy more popcorn.
