She Didn't Want to Walk Thru the Bushes

Instead she got gored and tossed into the bushes. Texas woman gored by bison lives to share video on TikTok

You would think that by the tone of this article, that before this incident, no one was ever told to stay 50 yards away from bison.

A hiker is taking to TikTok to warn about the dangers of invading a bison's personal space after she was attacked by one of the creatures last week as she hiked alone at Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway—the home of the Texas State Bison Herd. Rebecca Clark posted a clip of the moments leading up to the attack showing a handful of bison grazing a few feet away from the trail she was following.

Just because you are on trail, does not mean that you are safe from wild animals. People refuse to learn this lesson.

And the idea that you can always call 911? Yeah, that also isn't the case.

In a follow-up video, Clark explained that the bison rammed her back, gored her and threw her into a mesquite bush where she laid for 50 minutes until help arrived, adding that because of limited phone service she had no access to 911 and instead got messages to her family and friends. She was flown by helicopter to United Regional Healthcare Hospital in Wichita Falls.

You can find the video at this link to the NY Post. The bison in question was giving all of the warning signs that an attack was imminent, and instead of turning around and giving the animal the space it needed, she stayed on the trail. As if that is a magical protection. She found out that it is not.

If you are going into the wilderness, and yes, that does include trails through state and national parks, you should have some understanding of the wildlife you will run into and the hazards they present. And you should not trust in the magical protection of what you want versus reality, being on the "marked trail," or anything else that animals can't understand.

Be Nice. Personal Attacks WILL be deleted. And I reserve the right to delete stuff that annoys me.
