It might be something you should think about ahead of time. Keizer homeowner shoots, kills alleged home invader - KGW.
Keizer, Oregon is a northern suburb of Salem, Oregon.
Keizer police said that the owner woke up to find someone inside their house in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The homeowner shot the intruder and called 911. The intruder was declared dead at the scene.
Self-defense is a human-right.
"How Would You Respond to a Home Invasion at 2:30 AM?"
ReplyDeleteThe same way I had always planned to and then executed that plan. I'm not sure if I put this link in a comment here before, but here is a static page from my blog 75 Million Pissed Off Patriots detailing my own issue on Christmas morning 2012.
https://75mpop.blogspot.com/p/my-self-defense-story.html
Here's that link in an easier-to-access format
DeleteI don't think you've ever dropped that link here, because I don't remember ever reading that story. (A time, years ago I would have trusted my memory, but getting old means I'm forgetting things.... and it sucks like a Hoover.)
As far as the 911 operators go, I feel their pain as well.
DeleteBecause the bureaucrats that manage things like 911 call centers think that they are all knowing and the people they hire are brain dead, they give the operators NO leeway in terms of the questions they have to ask. Of course location and the nature of the emergency are a given.
I know this, because after I retired I considered - briefly - trying to do that work. Most 911 centers are understaffed, but it is mostly because the pay is not equal to the stress. (You are talking to women who've just been raped, mothers whose kids are already blue, etc.)
As for being on your own... I can relate. I don't live in the middle of nowhere. More like on the edge of nowhere. If I can call 911 before bad things happen, I will. But I also have a loaded .357 revolver and a speed loader that I can grab without getting out of bed. If it is actually an intruder, then there are more options available to hand.
