July 25, 1980 was the Day AC⚡️DC published Back in Black. According to a music guy on Twitter, it is the 3rd most popular album of all time, selling over 50 million records.
It sold more than 25 million copies in the US according to Billboard, so I could see that it could sell 50 million world wide.
Here is a link to the lyrics in case you need them.
This song is "Hells Bells" by the Australian band AC⚡️DC from the 1980 album Back in Black. What we have today is the remastered version. There are also any number of live versions that are worth a look. You can find them on YT.
AC/DC never accepted the Heavy Metal label, calling the music Rock & Roll. I will compromise by having them on Saturday, but labeling them Heavy Metal.
A favorite of my youth and today
ReplyDeleteBack in the day a friend who was not a fan complained that all of their songs sounded alike, my response was "exactly".
ReplyDeleteMost bands have a sound. A friend recently said that all of Tool sounds the same. They all (or mostly) sound like Tool.
DeleteBack In Black was the debut of Brian Johnson as lead singer, and while he's good, the music did lean more into "more of the same" than with Bon Scott, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI call them "harder rock", rather than metal; Van Halen is also there as well, especially their earlier work.
