Family Can Be a Threat

The gun haters love to say that if you own a gun, you are statistically more likely to shoot someone you know than a stranger. There is a good reason for that. Lakewood woman shoots brother after he slashes her, her boyfriend. The brother's in jail

A man accused of knifing his sister and her boyfriend last month at their home in Lakewood was charged Wednesday in Pierce County Superior Court. Prosecutors say the man was shot by his sister during the incident.

Michael Emler, 34, was charged with first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault, according to court records. He was booked into jail Thursday after recovering from his injuries at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Why did he knife his sister?

While the sister was recovering in the hospital, police asked her why she thought her brother went after her son. She said she felt it was because he was telling Emler to "man up."

They were getting evicted because Emler was causing problems for the landlord, so when they moved he was out. Seems reasonable to me to exclude the troublemaker.

Instead acting like a man, and taking responsibility for his actions, he threw a temper tantrum like a two-year-old.

As far as finding his own place to live... Looks like he's got that covered, at least for the next few years.

This is such a classic case of self-defense, that the cops are not even pretending to investigate the sister. She was attacked; she shot her attacker.

Self-defense is a human-right, even if family is attacking you.
