Tuesday Links - 17 May

Schneier on Security starts us off with Surveillance by Driverless Car. The police state marches on.

San Francisco police are using autonomous vehicles as mobile surveillance cameras.

EBL - 2000 Mules

I understand the left ignoring it, but why is the right doing so?

Legal Insurrection - WaPo Begrudgingly Admits ‘Protests’ Outside Justices’ Homes ‘Appear To Be Illegal’

Though there is not really any room for an alternate interpretation of how the Code reads, Blake nevertheless tried to find it anyway by consulting with several law experts who explained to him in so many words what the protesters were doing in front of the Justices’ homes was, in fact, illegal.

Blake’s response was to put the “probably” qualifier on it, perhaps hoping against hope that another expert would contact him to say the Code could be interpreted differently.

Allah's Willing Executioners - Iraqi migrant injures 5 in stabbing spree on German train, said to be ‘mentally ill’ despite being on Islamic terror watchlist

Germany’s left-wing government also has incentive to classify such murders as the result of a psychologically ill suspect rather than a case of Islamic extremism. For one, such cases fuel anti-immigrant sentiment at a time when the government plans to bring in more foreigners than ever.

Manhattan Contrarian - Harvard Progressives Covering Up For Their Systemic Racist Friends

Two things about the Report stand out: (1) The large extent of the negative effects of school closures and remote learning, particularly in what the authors call “high poverty” districts, which effects are at the highest end of what anyone might have expected, and (2) The extreme lengths to which the Report goes to avoid pointing the finger of blame where it needs to be pointed, which is toward the politicians and bureaucrats — essentially all Democrats — responsible for the excessive closures in the high-poverty districts, and on the teachers unions that control the schools and back the politicians in those jurisdictions.

Bookworm Room - Understanding post-modernism’s role in shaping the Democrat party. In which Wolf Howling asks, "Do you?"

  • Support the Constitution as written? Then you’re a white supremacist
  • Believe in meritocracy? Then you’re a racist and misogynist
  • Contest the left using schools to brainwash our kids? Then you’re a domestic terrorist

Chicago Contrarian - For Whom Are Kwame Raoul and Kimberly Foxx Working?

A Chicago-area attorney is attacking Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul for Raoul’s leadership in creating a state commission that has overturned a raft of murder convictions, including the conviction of Jackie Wilson for his role in the 1982 murder of two Chicago police officers, Richard O’Brien and William Fahey.

The attorney is also calling into question the motives of Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

The Other McCain - Personally I Blame Ruy Teixeira

As it is, the death toll in the Buffalo shooting is twice the number shot to death this past weekend in Chicago, although 28 others were wounded in Chicago. More than 1,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year, including 200 fatal shootings. But none of those shootings gave liberals a reason to blame Tucker Carlson, so you probably haven’t heard too much about them.
