You are supposed to rely on the State, even for the thing that it cannot supply. Prosecutors decline to charge Yakima man accused of shooting housemate at this time.
Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Joe Brusic said Friday his office would not be able to disprove a self-defense claim beyond a reasonable doubt.
“We evaluated all the evidence (Yakima police) had received, and it was a true self-defense case,” Brusic said.
He will try to prosecute if he can, but his hands are (unfortunately) tied by the legal definition of self-defense.
Self-defense is a human-right, but I wouldn't count on it being your legal right in Yakima County, Washington.
