That Thing The Left Says Never Happens, Happened

And the universe apparently has a sense of irony, because this occurred in a place called Peaceful Valley. Not that peaceful on the day in question. Armed Good Samaritans Provided Cover Fire, Rescue Wounded Deputies - The Police Tribune

A drunken guy with a 12 gauge shotgun, and a dispute over burning trash, set the stage for two deputies getting injured.

Deputies arrived on the scene at about 4:30 p.m. and when Young heard them announce themselves, he went outside yelling and waving a gun, the Bellingham Herald reported.

“Sheriff’s Office — drop the gun!” the deputies ordered Young.

Young ignored the deputies’ commands and opened fire on them instead, the Bellingham Herald reported.

The first deputy was shot in the head. The 2nd deputy moved to protect him, and he was shot as well.

Police said that was when good Samaritans armed with their own weapons stepped forward and fired multiple shots in the direction of Young to provide cover for and protect the wounded deputies, the Bellingham Herald reported.

The good Samaritans told KING that they were military veterans and they weren’t going to sit still and watch law enforcement officers be murdered so they took their children inside their homes and came back out with their own guns.

Once the bad-guy was pinned down, other neighbors dragged the injured deputies to safety.

Eventually a SWAT team arrived, along with units from "multiple law enforcement agencies" and surrounded the guy. He was taken into custody.

The 2 deputies are in stable condition, though one was transferred to a regional trauma center for specialized treatment.

“Second, we are extraordinarily blessed that several armed citizens came to the deputies’ assistance at the critical moments when they were most vulnerable,” [Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo] continued. “I have contacted all three of the good Samaritans and expressed appreciation on behalf of myself and all members of law enforcement and their families. There will be a more formal recognition of these humble citizen heroes once more details of their actions can be released.”

The bad-guy in this case is charged with 2 counts of attempted murder in the first degree.

A couple of good guys with guns, versus a bad guy with a gun.

Self-defense, and defense of others, is a human-right.

  1. These same cops that they helped, would, if ordered, take those kids away from those good Samaritans, if they refused a tyrants order to stick those kids with a fake vaccine. Nah, gimme some popcorn and a beer.

    1. I try not to feed the trolls, for the same reason that you shouldn't feed the alligators. But you have to let them out to play once in a while. "Giving them enough rope..."

And people are genuinely confused that I can have a post like this, and then have a post under the category of "Cops Behaving Badly." You have to enforce the law, and support the rule of law. That also means holding bad (and stupid) cops to account. Both things can be true at the same time.

  2. Just because a LEO does the occasional good deed, doesn't make them a good cop. There are a lot of stories about cops who receive accolades for going "above and beyond", who are later charged with all sorts of official misconduct, and end up getting fired, and/or jailed. There are also a lot of "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing" stories. Sadly, 95% give the other 5% a bad name.
