The Breakdown of Order in Chicago

This is the result of the policies that the people in Chicago and Cook County voted for. Armed robbery crews claim 14 more victims Wednesday — hours after politicians staged a street corner conversation about armed robberies

At least 14 people were robbed in nine separate incidents as an armed robbery team swept across Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and Uptown on a two-hour hold-up spree Wednesday night. Last night’s street robberies, which are the latest in a six-week-long wave of similar crimes that has left more than 60 victims in its wake.

Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and Uptown are 3 neighborhoods in Chicago, not traditionally associated with high crime rates, but that is changing.

Robbery isn't the only thing plaguing Chicago.

General violence is engulfing the City. Drive-by gunman opens fire on a packed Gold Coast bar, but no injuries are reported.

The "Gold Coast" refers to a part of Chicago, not surprisingly, that is a wealthy neighborhood. Close to shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc. Of course it is seeing an upswing in crime as well. In this case it is only by chance that no one was injured.

Chicago police say a drive-by gunman opened fire on a packed Division Street nightclub in the Gold Coast early Sunday, breaking a front window and damaging a TV inside the bar. But, miraculously, no injuries were reported.

It happened just west of the intersection of State and Division streets around 3:04 a.m., police said.

It is the area formerly known as The Magnificent Mile; it hasn't been very magnificent the past couple of years.

And it seems that some people are moving to Molotov Cocktails. Firebomber injures two inside downtown 7-Eleven; store “totaled”.

Officer Ana Pacheco said a man entered the store and verbally assaulted the 41-year-old woman who was working there around 5:50 a.m. Saturday. The woman retreated to a bathroom and locked the door.

While she was inside, the offender lit an incendiary device and set the store ablaze, according to the source who said a Molotov cocktail was used. Pacheco confirmed that the man set the store on fire, but she did not say how he did it.

Molotov Cocktails are the kind of thing you see in a war zone, but maybe that is what Chicago has become.

So will things get better? Not soon. Kim Foxx and her band of non-prosecuting attorneys refuse to hold people accountable, because keeping violent criminals in jail is unfair. And the judges running Cook County's court house feel the same way, and keep releasing people. The city is going to spend something like $400 million to "interrupt" violence, but I haven't seen anything that says they are sure any of their proposals are going to work.
