You can't operate at a loss forever. ‘Shame on Aldi’: Store closure rekindles concerns over food deserts
The next store is about mile away. The store that closed has been operating at a loss. But that is not enough for "activists."
The talk about "food deserts." So what was their solution? Provide transport to the other Aldi, so that it could stay in business? Nope.
Over the weekend Rite to Wellness handed out fresh produce in the building’s parking lot. The group plans to continue the “emergency food distributions” outside the closed Aldi on Saturdays through Dec. 18 (except Nov. 27).
Sure. Put the other store out of business.
They want to buy the building for $1, because markets are bad. Though I don't know what the value of the real estate may be, it is probably more than one dollar.
Insanity.
Oh, and part of the reason that people were staying away from that location - crime.
WVON Black Excellence Hour radio host P. Ray said she used to shop at the store at least once a week, but said the parking lot outside sometimes felt unsafe.
“It’s not feasible for a corporation to function in a space like that,” Ray said.
I wonder what is the intersection of "activists" moaning about the closure of this store, and people pushing for defunding the police? I don't wonder if they see the connection between crime and other problems.
