The following headline is misleading. The CCW license holder didn't shoot them because they were stealing. Would-be thief fatally shot by Lakeview homeowner in shootout, police say
Lakeview is one of the 77 neighborhoods in Chicago. It is on the north side of the city, and as the name implies, it is on Lake Michigan. It was - my guess is that it still is - a fairly expensive place to live.
The homeowner, a 44-year-old man was sitting on the steps of his home on the 2900 block of North Wolcott Avenue around 11:12 p.m. Wednesday when he heard a loud noise and two saw men underneath a car attempting to steal a catalytic converter.
When the two men noticed they were being watched, they crawled out from the car and pulled out their guns and started shooting at the homeowner.
The licensed gun-owner returned fire, killing one of the bad guys.
So the home owner was sitting outside at night with his gun on him????
