There is too much good writing at that link, and I cannot copy the whole thing. I will give you this taste... about if women do it...
This means that if Hillary Clinton drinks chardonnay to cope with her frustration over losing the 2016 election, chardonnay is feminist. If a guy starts drinking at lunch and keeps going until he’s passed out by sundown, he’s an alcoholic. If Hillary does it, she’s “empowered.”

Once upon time, not that long ago (1982 in the case of Columbia) a lot of major universities did not accept female students. The first class to include women at Columbia was the class of 1987. And really, that wasn't even a major issue. Once upon a time there were real issues.
