Police are not saying much, and we don't know that he was under the influence, but that is my guess. Man Shot Dead by Homeowner During Home Invasion in Newport Beach
“He’d been around the house for like 20 minutes then came around to the front and broke the front door down, that's when he entered the house,” a neighbor, Chet Groskreutz, said.
He apparently lived at "Sober Living Home" in the area, but police say he was either under the influence, or mentally handicapped. Both of which are beside the point. He was a danger to the people in that home, and someone exercised their right of self-defense.
Sober living house, and Under the influence OR mentally handicapped. Any bets on which it is? Of course it could be both.
And even in California, self-defense is a human-right. I have been surprised at how frequently this past year, that it turns out to be a legal right in California as well.
Yes....self defense is a legal right in Kali. And fortunately for this homeowner Newport Beach is in Orange County....a solidly conservative bastion of So. Cal. This means that the DA is less likely to persecute the victim based on politics than if it had happened in LA county or the Gay Bay.
