47 Minute Police Response to an Intruder In Your Home

You might want a Plan B, aside from call the cops. Galleria-area father calls HPD’s response time into question after intruder was found trespassing

Ike Umar woke up early Tuesday morning to find a shirtless man sneaking around his Galleria-area home.

“He was trying to look inside our bedroom,” he said.

His wife and kids hid, while he confronted the intruder.

He held him at gunpoint, but it took cops 47 minutes to respond.

A lot of really bad things can happen in 7 minutes, let alone 47. Thankfully this guy was armed and able to protect his family.

Cops are saying "It's not our fault!"

KPRC 2 called HPD who said the initial 911 caller did not give them all the information but after several calls, they got the full story and upgraded the priority of the call.

The guy was taken in for psychological evaluation.

Calling 911 is a fine thing to do, but they won't be there in an instant. You should have a plan for what you will do while you wait. This guy had a plan; he was armed.
