You are not the center of the universe. Don't act like you are. Police find and arrest spectator who caused mass Tour de France crash | Cyclingnews
The spectator who caused a mass crash on the opening day of the Tour de France has been arrested and placed in custody, according to RTL.
This is bad judgement as you can only find in the 21st Century.
The spectator had her back to the peloton and the sign was sticking out into the road at handlebar height, causing Tony Martin (Jumbo-Visma) to collide with it, sparking a crash that rippled through the bunch and brought numerous riders to the ground.
She had her back to the race, because she wasn't interested in the race. She was interested in getting her sign on television.
Felony stupidity is not a crime in France, but she does face €1500 fine for "involuntary injury caused by a lack of prudence," and at least one of the riders injured in the pileup have indicated they may sue.
You are attending what is arguably the pinacle of bicycle racing, but you are not in the least interested in the bicycle race. If this describes you, stay home. (Hat to to Atlhouse.)
