Another Failure of the Victim-selection Process

He thought breaking into an occupied dwelling in Florida was a good idea. Floridians are almost as heavily armed as Texans. Ocala woman holds would-be burglar at gunpoint until deputies arrive.

A woman held a man at gunpoint after he tried breaking into her residence, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reported. The man was arrested once deputies arrived.

The details of these stories sometimes make no sense to me, but then the people who are breaking into occupied dwellings in areas of the country where you are statistically likely to meet an armed resident are not the smartest people in the world.

But this story makes even less sense than usual. This guy could probably be Florida Man, at least for today.

When deputies arrived, the man refused to come out; instead, he hid under a rug.

What?! Hiding in a closet or under a bed, maybe will delay the inevitable, but how many drugs have to be in your system for you to think that "hiding under a rug" will keep them from finding you?

Self-defense is a human-right.
