Self-defense in the People's Republic of Chicago. Something that seems to be more common. Gunman shot in buttocks by concealed-carry holder in Austin shootout: police
He approached 3 people, and pistol-whipped two of them.
Then, the man fired shots at the third person, a 30-year-old man, who pulled out his own gun and returned fire, striking the 26-year-old in the buttocks, police said.
The older man has a valid concealed-carry license, police said.
The guy who got shot took himself to a local hospital, where he was arrested.
Four people have been wounded by self-defense actions this year in Chicago. Last year, 9 people were wounded and 11 people were killed in self-defense.
I should mention, that in THIS case, Austin refers to a neighborhood in Chicago. (There are 77 neighborhoods recognized in that city.) It is not a city in Texas.
