What Would Justice Look Like? Here's One Answer

She was running at a deputy with a long knife in her hands. That wasn't enough for "the community." Or something. California Deputy Shoots and Kills Crazy Woman Charging at Another Officer With a Knife | CauseACTION Clarion.

Crawford can then be heard screaming inaudibly as she begins to move toward the officers with a knife in her hand. At one point one of Crawford’s children steps in front of her and throws their hands up apparently screaming “stop!”

There is a 12 minute video at that link above, which is basically what the cops released.

I much prefer the video in this link. It is 27 minutes. It captures the interaction with cops, as shown in the dashcam footage, and also the offended "community members" who are "Demanding Justice," and want to know how a small woman can threaten police deputies. Well, I think the video makes that clear.

"The Community" would only be happy if the cop got stabbed. While the death is certainly a tragedy to her family, I do not believe it was not an injustice.

  1. This happened about 10 miles from my home of almost 50 years. Let me put "The Community" into context for you.
1- Nevada County is what I call the Marin County of the Sierra. The majority of it's current residents are transplants from the Bay Area and SoCal.
2- Nevada County is the only county in the State of Jefferson to have favored Hillary Clinton over Trump in 2016.
3- Our Sheriff has been in office for 2 years. She's a lesbian. All in all, she seems to be running the office much like her predecessor, and the Sheriff's Office has had a pretty fair reputation in recent history. It will be interesting to see how Sheriff Moon handles this latest kerfuffle.
4- The county has more than it's share of liberal whack jobs that seem to have plenty of free time to get outraged about whatever the latest cause celeb might be, be it tree sitting in order to protest PG&E's efforts to maintain legally required line clearance, standing on street corners in support of Black Lives Matter (the black population here is almost non-existent) or this latest 'Justice for Sage' movement. Back when Bush was president the largest group of malcontents was 'Grandmothers for Peace'.

IMHO, this place was a better place when there were more loggers and sawmill workers than erudite pilgrims from the city.
