Stratosfear

For some reason, a bunch of classic Electronica has been invading my playlists. Stuff I haven't heard in decades, and probably wouldn't have thought to revisit. Today we have one of those songs.

Tangerine Dream was formed in the late 1960s, in Germany. Originally the group concentrated on the pure synthesizer style of electronica. A lot of that music sounds formulaic to me, though I haven't concentrated much on early Tangerine Dream. With the album Stratosfear, they started to have songs I cared about more. Melodies that made sense to me. Though that might have been a function of

  1. How old I was in 1976
  2. How much of their music I heard prior to that

This song is "Stratosfear." It is the title song to the 1976 album by Tangerine Dream, though the version we have today is the 1995 remaster. It is 10 minutes, so grab a beverage.

Listening to this again, something about it reminds me of Kraftwerk, though I'm not exactly certain what. I suppose that given they were both making music in the 1970s, and both from Germany, it probably makes sense that they would influence one another.
