How Old Do You Need to be to Defend Yourself?

The Left would say that a 12-year-old should not have the means of self-defense and so should just be a victim. A helpless victim. 12-year-old shoots intruder after 73-year-old shot: NC cops

Two masked people “forced their way” into the apartment in Goldsboro and demanded money before shooting one of the residents, according to a news release from the Goldsboro Police Department. A 12-year-old in the apartment then shot at the suspects in “self defense,” and the two ran off, police say.

The guy who got shot and 73-year-old were taken to a local hospital. The bad guy died. The woman is in stable condition.

  1. This is one of the conundrums of infringements. The 2nd Amendment does not have any age restrictions. It should be up to the parents as to when their offspring should be ready to defend themselves. Some may be 10 or 12, others 18 and over, and some NEVER! I can envision this poor 12 year old being charged as a juvenile, and the parents as felons for allowing firearm access to a person of a certain age. Meanwhile, a bad guy is dead and grandma isn't. How is that a bad thing again?

  2. No debate. Someone taught the kid how to handle a weapon. He did what needed done. I hope he's dealing with it well, and I figure if the mayor pinned a medal on him on the courthouse steps with news cameras rolling, everything would be good.

  3. Old enough to know that Dhimmies do not mean well and represent the public's interest in the same fashion that Dracula represents blood banks.
