Self-defense is legal in Vermont, though it took the prosecutor months to figure that out. No charges filed after July incident where two 2 were killed in St. Johnsbury, police say
He did kill one person before he was stopped.
Investigators completed their investigation this week into a July incident after 42-year-old Nicholas Johnson broke into a home on Cottage Street and attacked his former partner, Jennifer Bradley, along with Bradley's husband, Patrick Mayhew and her adult son.
Johnson, who was homeless at the time of the attack, seriously injured Mayhew and stabbed 21-year-old Ben Lyons to death before he was shot and killed by Mayhew.
Self-defense may be legal in Vermont, but the DAs HATE that. How dare you not rely on The System for your safety, even though the system cannot provide that? When seconds count, police are minutes away.
Two younger children were unharmed, though my guess is that they were traumatized. One of the couple's dogs was also killed.
Would this situation have been improved if the victims had been disarmed? I really wish that someone from the gun-hating part of the Left would explain that.
