Ubisoft and their Really Bad 2024

Ubisoft is a game development studio headquartered in France. They have released a couple of games this year, with one major title yet to be released. Things are not going will for Ubisoft in 2024.

Vara Dark is a gamer, and a YouTube creator. I do like the way she approaches gaming and reviews.

So. What has Ubisoft been up to?

Skull & Bones is a computer game that started way back in 2013 as an update to Assasins Creed: Black Flag, another pirate game. They eventually decided to make it a stand alone title, and it took a VERY long time to produce.

For years, fans of Assasins Creed have wanted a version of the game set in Japan. In theory they got one this year. There is just one problem. With a game set in feudal Japan, Ubisoft decided to embrace the woke and go with a black lead character? Why? Shut you racist!

To cover all the controversy that this created would take a very long time. Japan, a country that usually doens't get upset with people doing stuff with Japanese culture, is up in arms - or the Japanses gamers are anyway - about Cultural Appropriation.

Which leaves the final game - yet to be released. Star Wars Outlaws.

This has been panned over the bad CGI, the female version of Han Solo as the lead character, the uglification of the model that character is based on, and the general poor quality of the game play seen in the previews.

Since it is Star Wars related, it has gotten a lot of attention.
