People need to learn to understand the sentence, "It's over." 'Rod is a hero': How a New Hanover shooting victim's quick thinking saved lives
He was armed, and searching for his ex-wife. He was in the wrong place, but that didn't stop him from shooting a homeowner.
The Capeside Village homeowner, previously identified by police as 62-year-old Rodney Jester, remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) and has undergone two major surgeries. The 74-year-old suspect, previously identified by law enforcement as David Rose, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police are convinced that Rose meant to murder his ex-wife, and so consider Jester to be a hero.
So how would killing his ex-wife improved his life? He could have stayed home and had a drink. He could have gone out for a drink. Instead he is dead.
"A homeowner faced a dire situation when a suspect attempted to forcefully enter his home. In defense of his life and property, the homeowner acted within his rights," Sheriff Ed McMahon said in the prior release. "Our investigation has determined that the homeowner used necessary force to protect himself and his family."
Self-defense is a human-right. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0.
