Towing in Chicago has always been a bit suspect, but this is new levels of insanity. Video shows Chicago cops nearly driving into a hail of gunfire in Bucktown; rival tow truck crew eyed as suspects - CWB Chicago
There are multiple videos.
An axle broke on a guys car, causing a crash. He called for a tow. The tow truck and the cops and the "other guys" arrive at about the same time, and a firefight erupts. (Listen to the audio.)
About two hours before the Bucktown shooting, two men were shot while sitting in a tow truck in West Town. The men were in the 500 block of North Ogden when a black sedan pulled up around 2:50 a.m., police said. Someone fired shots from the sedan.
Bucktown and West Town are both neighborhoods in Chicago.
Law and Order is a thing of the past in Chicago, and in so many of our cities.
This is where I mention Hobbes' Leviathan, because the idea that security is required for civilization to endure is not new. Hobbes published Leviathan in 1651. In that book he describes the State of War that ensues when law and order break down.
Western Civilization is built on a foundation of law and order. Without law and order, you can't have nice things. You can't have anything really. Or as Hobbes stated it, when there is no force-of-law to keep people in check, things break down. You have only the security you can provide for yourself, and life tends to be "nasty, brutish, and short."
This state of war is what is coming to be in our cities, and soon to be suburbs as well. You might want to plan accordingly.
