Friday Links - 19 January

Alan Ng at Film Threat is first with a topic that is dear to my heart. The D-Files Part 2: The Great Mouse Reset [It didn't have to be this way.]

As exposed in part one of The D-Files, the removal of John Lasseter was never about removing a “bad man,” but more that his personal demons were used as an excuse/weapon to remove him from creative power at the Walt Disney Company. The next step should have been replacing Lasseter with someone equally talented as him. Instead, the sinister forces within Disney saw his firing as a chance to initiate “Disney’s Great Reset.”

The Other McCain brings us word from Iowa, and the media front. Trump (Predictably) Wins Big in Iowa; MSNBC (Predictably) Melts Down on Air

It has never been my style to say or do anything merely to “own the libs,” as the kids say, but if owning the libs is what you want to do, then voting for Trump is certainly the best way to do it. Congratulations, then, to Iowa GOP caucus-goers, who provoked unprecedented conniptions in the liberal media. MSNBC actually refused to broadcast Trump’s victory speech in Iowa, and CNN cut away from the speech as soon as Trump started talking about the “invasion” at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Meep at STUMP - The Week in Meep: Actuarial History, Language, and SUMO!

I am just letting people who may be interested that the January tournament just started on Sunday.

Multiple YouTube channels cover the matches comprehensively, but if you just want to dip in, I recommend Sumo Prime Time for newbies

The Post Millennial - Quebec man pleads guilty to setting 14 forest fires—Trudeau claimed it was climate change

Brian Paré, 38, had posted numerous conspiracy theories online suggesting the government had deliberately ignited the blazes. At the same time, the Trudeau Liberals blamed climate change.

According to CTV News, Paré pleaded guilty to 13 counts of arson and one count of arson with disregard for human life

Impro Guns - FGC-9 seized in Israel. [Not sure why 5.56X45 ammo is on display.]

An FGC-9 fitted with a silencer along with hashish weighing approximately 800 grams seized from a residence in Moshav.

Gun Culture 2.0 - GUN CURIOUS Book Cover Reveal!!!

It has been a long time coming, but today I am happy to reveal the cover for my forthcoming book, Gun Curious: A Liberal Professor’s Surprising Journey Inside America’s Gun Culture. The book will be published in May 2024.

American Thinker - DEI, Airplane Crashes, and Bad Medicine

How safe are you nowadays on commercial airliners? How safe will you be tomorrow? Are airlines sacrificing safety at the altar of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)?” Who do you want piloting the jetliner you’re on, the best, most experienced pilots or box-check hires?

Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony - Daily News Stuff 17 January 2024: Only Potatoes Edition

I'm not saying Microsoft's latest version of Outlook is spyware, but... (Proton)

I mean, it says up front that it's going to share your data with Microsoft and 772 other companies. Would any self-respecting spy tell you that?

And this time, I am not exaggerating.

Again from The Other McCain - (Insert Hillbilly Joke Here)

Time to tune up your banjos, IYKWIMAITYD

Juvat at Chant du Départ - Heather Weather or is it Weather Heather?

Howdy, Campers. Haven't got much, so let's talk about the weather. Just took out the trash and fed the horses. Thermometer says it's in the upper teens. Fingers tell me different. I think that the wind chill makes the "feels like" in the single digits. Suffice it to say Winter Storm Heather is somewhat dicey. Fortunately, for now at least the D is still part of that word.

Vodka Pundit at PJ Media - Chinese Women Are Voting Against Communism With Their Uteri

TL;DR: China is losing working-age producers faster than it is creating retirement-age consumers at a time when the rest of the world is growing sick of buying export goods from a bully.

The Other McCain again - Craziest Cult Story of the Year (So Far)

So here you had two widely separated murder cases in Alabama — Semmes is more than 250 mile south of Mount Cheaha — in the span of a few months, and both of them involved suspects described as “followers” of Definitely-Not-a-Cult-Leader Rashad Jamal White.
