Your $60,000 car is less technologically advanced than your $120 router. And be clear, this has NOTHING to do with it being an electric vehicle. This is just mechanical engineers doing computer engineering. It is the same problem that Tesla has, but in reverse.

The message from Ford after a failed software update:

Unfortunately a recent software update was not successful your vehicle cannot be driven. Please call customer support.

Gee, I sure hope you were not trying to rush your child to the emergency room, or you were not trying to get the most important job interview of your career, or anything remotely important, because Ford has decided that you're screwed and they don't really care. Oh, and I hope you're not somewhere that doesn't have phone service, because the genuises at Ford never thought that there could be such a place.

You can't reload from safe memory. You can't do a factory reset. You can't do anything. You're just stuck.

It isn't like "roll back to the previous version" is unknown in the world of computers and tech, though it seems to be unknown in the world of Ford. I back up important stuff everyday. If it is really important - say when I am working on my taxes - I back it up multiple times per day. Shit happens in the world of tech. It isn't hard to be prepared.
