Professor David Yamane has a worthy request. Raising Funds for Student Field Trip to the Gun Range
As in previous years, the first meeting of Sociology of Guns Ver. 9 will be at the gun range where students will have the opportunity (but not be required) to shoot a .22 pistol (Ruger Mark III), a 9mm handgun (an Avidity Arms PD-10 sent to me by the manufacturer for range day), and an AR-15 style .223/5.56 caliber rifle.
While I believe that Professor Yamane does limit the class size for his seminar, this is still a lot of ammo, and range time.
In the past two years, all 16 students have taken the opportunity to shoot all three guns, which is amazing considering most have never shot any gun before.
I've posted about the professor's seminar in the past, and he has extensive posts on his blog about the seminar, the participants, the guest speakers, etc.
He is doing good work, and needs some financial help.
I have again created a “goal” on my Buy Me a Coffee page of $300 to cover the cost of ammo, electronic hearing protection, and a shooting bench. Any overages I will put toward defraying other class-related costs like guest speakers and course materials.
You can also donate via PayPal if that is more familiar to you.
From the first photo, it appears the Professor is a lefty. The irony is strong in this one.
ReplyDeleteHe is a Lefty - in more than one sense of the word, but not all liberals hate guns. They just get the most press
