Turns Out that Self-defense IS Legal in Texas

Well, and the defender was tried and convicted in the press, even before the witness statements were in.

Pamplin said she believes the accusation made against West was the result of an overzealous district attorney’s office eager to file charges. She blamed it on pressure from the Asian-American community in Dallas, where Shin lived, for Fort Wort police and the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office to take action.

“It was a pressure campaign put on to smear my client,” Pamplin said. “That community wanted a hate crime and so they tried to give them a hate crime.”

The problem arose because the Asian-guy shot first, and was apparently drunk. That is according to reports; the cops are not releasing any data because there are still trials going on.

If you shoot first, you are probably not the victim of a crime, not even a hate-crime, if someone then defends themselves.

Pamplin said West lost his job and sold his car to pay bills. She said that’s because of the information released by law enforcement.

“He’s been portrayed as a villain,” Pamplin said. “He’s been portrayed as a bad guy. When in actuality he saved some women’s life that night.”

I wish "Innocent until proved guilty" would make a comeback in America and the West. I don't see that happening any time soon. Guilt by accusation. Guilt because a woman/minority/whatever accused you. No due process. No justice. No humanity. Just the rule of the mob.

And this didn't happen in New Jersey; it happened in Fort Worth. We are so screwed.
