Chicago had a Mayoral election this week. The choice was between someone who wanted to fix the crime situation, and “Progressive” candidate Brandon Johnson who is still solidly in the Defund the Police part of the Left. The law-abding citizen lost, and Chicago voted for more crime. Below are some reactions to this (expected) turn of events. Well, the vote was close...
The Other McCain is a good place to start.. Chicago Votes for More Crime.
By electing Johnson, Chicago has voted for more crime, committed by repeat offenders who know they won’t be prosecuted and sent to prison by Chicago’s “Black and Brown coalition” government.
There is a lot more at that link.
HeyJackass! is up next with What's Next? - Now that the issue of who will succeed Lori has been settled, what’s next for Chicago under Lightfoot v2.0.
There are a lot of good points and you should read them all; HeyJackass! has been tracking crime in Chicago for 10 years. I'll leave you with one of the points.
After four years of Lightfoot v2.0, Chicago will likely become more like Portland than Detroit where a strange combination of a lower quality of living coupled with swaths of over-priced real estate with some remaining high-end shops and restaurants next to bombed-out neighborhoods will give off a sort of Hunger Games/Gotham City vibe to it all.
Benjamin Blair at Chicago Contrarian gets the last word. He has a rundown of the effects the (predicted) outcome of the election is having on real estate in the city. Brandon Johnson for the Win as Black Labor Beats White Money!
Real estate values are plummeting across the North Side. Now real estate agents are seeing sellers willing to write mortgages for potential buyers in Lincoln Park where the seller will essentially finance anyone himself by providing a mortgage at a low rate of interest just to get the place off his accounts.
In one case, this after dropping the price by something approaching Brandon’s estimated million dollar CTU pension payout on the house.
In another instance, a North Side real estate investor trying to unload a condo, is considering donating it to charity, just to get it off their books and take the tax write-off.
You can’t make this stuff up anymore.
As ye sow, so shall ye reap, BOHICA
ReplyDeleteYou don't actually believe this was an honest election? Chiraq hasn't had an honest election in decades. The winner is always picked long before election day
ReplyDeleteI'm from Chicago. "Vote Early, Vote Often."
DeleteI was shocked that the Machine decided that they had to toss Lori Beatlejuice.
In the end, it doesn't matter. Chicago is bankrupt, they just haven't made that fact public, but very soon, they are going to fess up to the fact that they can't pay for pensions. Really the only question is will they get another federal bailout. (Yes, we bailed them out during the pandemic.)
