If she doesn't have a firearm, what should she do? Woman shoots attacker multiple times in self-defense: Police | Washington Examiner
This could also be filed under, "He suffered a failure of the victim-selection process."
Michelle Hearn and a friend had left the club after Hearn and a man, identified by police as 31-year-old Lamarcus Woodson, had a dispute inside the club.
Woodson reportedly followed the pair outside and trailed them to a local residence, where he was warned to stay away.
The 31-year-old appeared to ignore the warning and grabbed Hearn, causing a struggle to ensue, according to the report.
He was shot, and had to be airlifted to a trauma center. He is expected to survive. They don't say what the dispute was about, but my guess is she wasn't interested in him and he didn't like that.
She was released because self-defense is a human-right, and it appears to be your legal-right in Mississippi.
So I really do wish that someone from the gun-hating part of the Left would say what they think this woman should have done when attacked by a man on the street. I'm not holding my breath.
Maybe I'm wrong, but judging only by the names of those involved, the shooter is the only White person involved. Doesn't sound like they made it into the house. If they did, and came back out with the gun, that's not self-defense. I can't speak for Mississippi, but where I live, carrying a weapon in a place where alcohol is served is strictly verboten. She made a poor choice of drinking partners, and locations. Can't say that I have any sympathy for her.
ReplyDeleteThere are states that permit you to be armed in a place that serves alcohol provided you are not drinking. You really shouldn't make assumptions about what is allowed in one state by what is allowed in your state.
DeleteBecause you know, gay men and lesbians were NEVER targeted coming out of bars. Ever. Or wait a minute, I seem to remember a very high profile mass shooting in a Florida gay bar - which was a gun-free zone in a very gun friendly state. Several laws were changed because of that.
You know, blaming the victim, when it comes to women being attacked by men over where they are, what they wore, who they were with, really went out of fashion in the 1980s.
DeleteShe wasn't "asking for it." He was. And he got exactly what he deserved.
You did see the part where I said, "I can't speak for Mississippi". I stand by everything I said. Her poor choices led to the confrontation. Here's a question. Have you heard of Timothy Treadwell? If not, look him up,read the story, and tell me whose fault it was. You do know that statistically speaking, interracial rape is almost 100% black on White, right? If you haven't yet, I'd suggest reading Derbyshires "Non-Black Version of The Talk". Poor choices usually lead to poor outcomes.
DeleteJust because it is illegal doesn't make it wrong. The old trope about Anne Frank is that the people who hid her family broke the law and those who dragged them off to the death camp were upholding it.
