So I was listening to a bit of Neue Deutsche Härte (New German Hardness) on YouTube, because Rammstein released a single in December from their 2022 album, and the video didn't rise to the level of disturbing that some of their videos do. Anyway, this video popped up in the "suggested videos" list, and I had to check it out.
That would be the Deutsche Welle (DW) video Why metalheads are happier people. It is embedded below. Deutsche Welle is a German news outlet that publishes all (most?) of their stuff in English. It is a fairly good source for European and world news, now that The London Telegraph has disappeared behind a paywall.
Loud, chaotic, and aggressive. Heavy Metal fans are angry, rowdy people right? Wrong.
Metalheads are actually some of the happiest and most peaceful people around. It's even scientifically proven that listening to Heavy Metal has a positive impact on mental health.
The reasons they give are:
- Strong Sense of Community
- Outlet for stress and anger (catharsis)
- Feelings of Joy and Empowerment
The video has a lot of stuff recorded at Waken Open Air. I believe it is Waken 2022, but I'm not 100% sure. It is the largest Metal festival in the world. The 2020 and 2021 festivals were cancelled because of the unknown virus of unknown origin.
As for the Rammstein song, we will get to that soon, but not today.
