Armed Self-defense - Zambia Edition

An electric fence did not stop these guys. Zambia : Homeowner shoots suspected burglar in Lilayi area as police launch manhunt for remaining suspects.

There were 6 home invaders. Talk to me about how many bullets I should have in the magazine of my firearm if I can be faced with 6 (or more) miscreants.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects entered the property by cutting through the electric fence and proceeded to ransack the house, stealing valuable items and causing damage to the property. The homeowner, who was inside the house at the time, heard the commotion and grabbed his shotgun, firing a warning shot to deter the suspects.

When the suspects continued to advance, the homeowner fired again, striking one of the suspects and causing the rest to flee the scene.

Police took the guy who got shot to a local hospital. They also recommended having electric fences to deter crime. Such a fence didn't deter anything in this case, but that's all they have.

The mother of the guy who got shot is shocked. “He’s always been a good boy.”

The incidents serve as a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to protect themselves and their property from criminal activity.

The reality of the situation is that, as in most cases, police showed up after the fact. Picked up the guy who got shot and initiated a manhunt for the 5 that got away. They didn't stop the crime, and were left to recommend the security measure that failed, an electric fence. Those are not digs against cops - except for that last item. That is just the nature of reality.
